Transformational change communications & employee engagement

Portfolio

Our work isn’t just about creating things that look good, although that’s usually part of what we deliver.  It’s the hard yards that happen beforehand - understanding the business problem, clarifying what success looks like, understanding the context, audiences, and barriers to adoption, applying expertise and conceptualising the right solution - that make for truly impactful change communications.

Our results come from a combination of smart strategy, impactful creative and disciplined execution.

Here’s a small taste of some of our recent projects.

Launching company values & behaviours

With more than 1,200 staff across 70 locations, the National Indigenous Australians Agency is eager to break down old silos and drive a one team culture by introducing shared values and behaviours that all staff embody. To launch the Agency values, we created a communication strategy and campaign identity to inform and inspire employees to bring the values to life. The theme ‘We’ve drawn a line in the sand: The future is better as One Team’ combined the ideas of a shared future vision and cross agency collaboration.

We created digital posters, media wall exhibition banner, hard copy posters, sent packages to all offices, digital communications on the Intranet, emails, briefings, CEO talking points, coordinated a launch event, and wrapped all lift doors with artwork promoting the values in National Office.

Positioning security as trusted business partner

The Security team at Prime Minister & Cabinet has a mission to reimagine security from their traditional brand as a scary, compliance based function, to one that employees see as a friendly, accessible and valuable business partner to engage with early on a range of issues.  Bringing this vision to life means the Department will have a stronger security culture with naturally higher compliance ratings.

We designed a communication campaign that incorporates diverse characters that reflect the approachable, trusted business partner positioning the Security team desires.  Our campaign used high impact communication channels, such as colourful floor to ceiling wall wrap artwork, digital posters, and flyers to help build awareness of the ways that staff can work with Security to help achieve better outcomes easily.

Building a culture of recognition

We designed a best practice framework that includes avenues for formal and informal recognition opportunities, as well as ways for colleagues to acknowledge and thank each other for their efforts and support.

Organisations often use gift cards/bonuses etc as incentives when rewarding staff. As this is a government agency, this is not an option, so instead we focused on the significance and pride of winning an award.

The framework is being applied for the first time now.  It will play a key role in building a culture of recognition and high performance for years to come.

A new approach to video conferencing

When the Department of Prime Minister & Cabinet installed new audio visual and video conferencing solutions in all meeting rooms and other activity-based work spaces, we designed a comprehensive, multi phase communication strategy and campaigns to help staff adopt new ways of hosting meetings and working together.

The impact is immediate, with clear guidance presents on digital screens in meeting rooms, decals on meeting and boardroom table tops, and infographics and posters installed in meeting and training rooms.

We worked with the AV/VC provider to develop communication and training materials that cut out the overwhelm and fear of using a new system to make it easy for staff to get started and reduce pressure on the IT helpdesk.  Our work literally helps people connect more easily.

Launching an Agency wide newsletter

We were asked to create an onbrand concept that replaced all existing newsletters (official and otherwise) designed to inform, inspire and involve colleagues across the Agency.  The central idea behind introducing a new newsletter was to help drive the desired one team culture across the organisation.

We designed a communication strategy and concept with ‘inNIAA’ as the central focus.  This project involved designing a responsive concept that could work across all devices and networks (no easy feat!), gaining Executive agreement on all elements of the channel concept, developing a content strategy and editorial calendar, as well as newsletter and Intranet cross promotion.
