Drum roll, please!
Your leadership style is…
The Visionary
When it comes to leading and landing organisational change, you know that when people buy into a shared vision for the future, magic happens.
No one understands the power of getting impacted stakeholders to ‘see’, experience, and internalise the new way, like you do.
Your superpower is holding and communicating a bold vision, creating urgency and building desire.
You have a knack for creating opportunities for folks to try out the new way of working and experience it for themselves first hand. You know that change sticks when people see the benefits for themselves. As a change leader you’re decisive, proactive and love to see progress. You want those quick wins, proof and data to help keep the senior leadership team engaged, inform decisions and next steps!
You’re all about clearly defining ‘what’s in it for me?’ and naturally use benefits-laden language and examples in your messaging. You know this is the fastest way to hook your stakeholders - and that’s when real change happens.
Your unique strengths:
Making the case for change and building a sense urgency and desire among stakeholders
Decision making in the context of both daily tasks AND the big picture
Accountable and comfortable taking responsibility for delivering transformation (you don’t realise how rare this is!)
But beware…
Your fully formed vision for the future can make it difficult to take on employee insights and ideas, and you may miss opportunities to make the end result even better than you’d imagined.
Consider how you could collaborate with stakeholders to help build their buy-in. For example, you could identify key milestones in the delivery plan where you could capture employee insights to feed into decision making and direction setting.
To take your change leadership to the next level:
Share personal stories and speak from experience when engaging with stakeholders
Communicate how the changes align with your overarching organisational values and purpose
Seek out Employee Voice to uncover their ideas and needs for the new way
Find ways to help impacted stakeholders feel safe, heard and supported
Before we go any further, let me introduce myself...
After 20+ years supporting organisational transformations, I know that great communication is the key to embedding change initiatives and unleashing the full potential of employees and partners to do extraordinary things. Time in the trenches has taught me that the best change communications are always a mixture of well-crafted strategy, impactful creative, disciplined execution, and compelling storytelling to draw people in and inspire them to action.
